No Comic This Week
I’m sorry to announce that due to me trusting in computers and not checking the site yesterday I was unable to alert users that they will not be getting there totally kotor fix until next Monday(23rd) this is partly due to the author being on a mission at the moment and myself as I said not checking it earlier.
So to get to the point...
The comics are on an automatic update which means they pop up every Monday at 10 am(gmt) there are also 5 Mondays this June.
So...
*SPOILERS* next weeks comic is entitled "Typical Beginning" */SPOILERS*
This could point to a new, what you could call Chapter in the Great Book that is Totally kotOR.
So in other words savour the wait.
and don’t worry nothings going to happen.
(at least not until Jan 19th 2009)

A message by flying snail mail.
Hey all! Having a great time in sunny Utah, learning Cantonese and how to be a missionary. Wish you were here! Really, that'd be awesome, if everyone who reads the comic was going on a mission for the church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints!
I'm quite disappointed in you all though-
I know that a lot of you live in America but I've not received any letters! how hard would it be for you to just write a normal old snail mail, stick on a 41C stamp and pop it in the mail box? The only communication I get with the outside world at the moment is by mail, and I'd love to hear from you all and what you think of the comic! I guarantee I'll reply to any and all letters I receive! I'll even include free sketches of any character you want! Just somebody TALK TO ME!
Not that I'm desperate for letters or anything...
Well, actually I am...
Anyway, Hope you're all enjoying the comics and stuff. Write me!

Right, changes...
Okay, I've left this announcement pretty late, so I hope you'll forgive me.
I'm going to China for 2 years. I leave next week.
Fear not, though - I won't leave you hanging. I've drawn a lot of comics in advance, which will still be regularly uploaded for as much of that two year period as possible. This, unfortunately, means dropping down to a single update a week. Sorry! It's a necessary change though, so that the comic will actually continue. When I get back, I'll try my hardest to get back to a 3 comics/week update schedule. You'll just have to bear with me.
I'm going to China - specifically, the Hong Kong region, to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. You may have heard us called the Mormon church. It's going to be an incredible two years, and I hope you can all support me as I go. You can check out my new blog - http://www.elderloffhagen.com to see what I'm up to, as well as (hopefully) reading a once-a-week comic about my mission life. There'll be a lot of in-jokes and other things you might not understand, though, so you may want to read up on the church's website to find out what I'm going on about half the time - a much easier way of figuring it out though, would be to join the church. I recommend this strategy. :)
So sorry again for dropping to once-a-week. Depending on my schedule out there, I may be able to draw some extra hand-drawn comics from time to time, but these won't be possible for at least 3 months.

In a galaxy far away
'Cause Some Guy Requested It.
News! Yes, Dan, I heard your plea. Had I known that anybody actually bothered to read the front page, I'd have kept up with a more regular update program.
I'd better say this before I get too far down the post, because it needs all the help it can get at the moment: visit the Totally Kotor forums! They're great fun but sadly lacking in participants at the moment. I'm sure you'll do the right thing and register and have a chat there.
So, lots to talk about. Yes, I have bought Sacrifice, by Karen Traviss, but no, I've not finished it yet. That's partly down to me slacking off, partly down to my lack of free time, but mostly down to Phoenix Wright: Justice for All. But I finished that last night, so I should be increasing my reading now.
So long as Pokemon Pearl doesn't get in the way much more.
Anyway, so far this book is just as good as the last one from the series that Traviss wrote - which is to say, phenomenally better than any of the others. Aaron Allston and That Other Guy Whose Name Escapes Me are good writers, sure, but Karen writes with such elegance and subtlety. There's not many books in the world that have gripped me more than Bloodlines, the first book she wrote for the series.
I have one bone to pick with the book, though - nothing about what's between the pages, but rather what's on the front. I know you can't judge a book by its cover, and in this case it's literally true.

Here, on the cover of the book, we see a wonderful looking young Mara Jade Skywalker, wife of Luke and mother to Ben, their little ginger offspring. That's all fair and good, and kudos to Luke - because the book's set a full 40 years after A New Hope. Now, Mara was 18 at the time of the first film, which makes her 58 in this book. All I can say is that if Mara looks that good as she nears her sixties, then...well, Star Wars medical tech must be pretty much perfect. As Yoda went to 900, though, I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised; except Han and Leia hav aged suitably. Huh.

Perhaps Mara's learned a rare Force technique that nobody else knows; Force Youth. Although that sounds less like a Jedi power and more like a documentary on cosmetic surgery to me...
Well, I'll leave it there for now, but there is more news to come over the following weeks. Reports of Celebration Europe, for one, an announcement about China for another. But if you want less sparse news, remember to head over to the forum!

A long long time ago
RIP Captain America!
'Tis true.
It was on the Beeb and averything. I heard it on Radio 4 on the way home.
I'm working on fanart to commiserate this sad day, which I'll post up here after it's finished.
But what a way to kill him! Superman dies after a long, drawn out battle with an impossible supervillain, but Cap, a symbol of American patriotism, is killed by a sniper! I love the real-life paralells! Marvel have done it again, and I'm looking to buy this issue of the magazine, 'cause you know it'll be a collector's item in the future.
Visit the forums to discuss this in more detail.
I know I don't talk much about my love of Marvel comics, as it's not particularly relevant to Star Wars (apart from the Marvel Star Wars comics of the 1970's), but this was just too important for me to not comment on.
So Rest In Peace, Captain America, untill, in a few years' time, they decide to resurrect you again.
Happy Birthday!
Totally Kotor is officially one year old as of yesterday. As seems to be typical for me, after spending ages rambling on about it earlier this month, I completely forgot about it when the day came.
The comic really started work in November of 2005, but I waited until I had over ten comics before going live - a wise decision, as it meant that I'd already commited a lot to making the comic, and was more determined to keep it rolling.
It's been a fun year, guys - here's to the next five (the domain name totallykotor.com is mine until 2012, so I'm committed to keeping the comic going until then)

PS - to whomever posted a link to the site on stumbleupon.com, thank you very much - I nearly fell off my chair when I saw my unique visitor stats for last Monday!
